Rwanda could be hit by flooding

Rwanda could be hit by strong winds and flooding beginning today, Friday, which could continue for the next three days, according the country's weather agency, the Rwanda Meteorological Agency (Meteo Rwanda) which has issued a three-day adverse weather warning.

Heavy rains which are above average are expected in many parts of the country.

According to Aimable Gahigi, the Director-General of Meteo from 17th  until 20th of April, the southern province, the western province, the city of Kigali and the eastern province will experience heavy rains in the range of 10 up to 50 millimeters a day.

Strong winds are expected ranging between 5 to 10 meters per second during the forecasting period in the Eastern province.

The weatherman is calling for contingency measures to be put in place to avoid the likelihood of negative impacts which be associated with heavy rainfall and strong wind
