The second edition of the Meet and Meat Festival didn’t attract many people, but shows promise.

The event took place on August 11 at Tuuza grounds in Nyamata, a 30-minute drive out of Kigali city.

But, it didn’t start at 11am as advertised, kicking off instead between 2pm and 3pm.
“I really expected more vibe, since this is a unique event and the venue is conducive,” said Doreen Umwari, one of the people who attended the event.

The meat served in the event included roast beef, goat and some chicken. This was also accompanied by roast matooke and drinks.

The event also featured music from DJs Kiss, Infinity, NEP, Miles, Fresh Freddie, Nano, from Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda. There were also performances from Davy Ranks, Sintex, Urban Boys and Riderman who entertained the guests.

“There are so many things we had to put together by ourselves, which wasn’t easy, but we are glad that local artistes and DJs co-operated,” said Jimford Angulu, an administrator of Urban Entertainment, the company that organised the event.

The event suffered several challenges, like power cuts, especially amid different DJ sets, which the organisers blamed on limited funds, since the event is still self-funded.
