Rwanda on Tuesday confirmed four new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of identified infections to 40.

The ministry of health said that the new cases include two travellers from Dubai, one from Belgium and one contact traced from a previously confirmed infected traveler.

“The recent travelers were immediately placed in a isolation upon arrival and tested,” the ministry said.

The country restricted all unnecessary movements outside homes nationwide for two weeks effective March 22.

Non-essential businesses were closed and travel between cities and districts were suspended.

All borders were also closed except for goods and cargo, returning citizens and legal residents, who are subjected to mandatory 14-day quarantine.
