What started off two years ago as an event to bring together people and feast on, Meet and Meat Fest, is determined to hold on despite sponsorship woes.

“We admit that the past editions have faced challenges. We are working on a better outcome this year,” said Jimford Angulu, a representative of Urban Entertainment, who are the event’s organizers.

The event which has in the past been taking place in August has been delayed this year due to sponsorship challenges.

This year, the event is slated for September 7, in Rebero, Kigali, and will feature various activities like meat feast and children games.

On the first day, people enjoy mostly grilled beef and goat meat accompanied by banana plantain or fried Irish potatoes and refreshments with music performances by Deejays. in the evenings, musicians take to the stage.

Just like last year, Rwandan musicians such as Sanny, Bruce Melodie and the Green Ferry Music are expected.

“Unlike the usual tactic of events ushering in foreign musicians to entertain audiences, we prefer our home grown talents,” Mr Angulu explained.

He conceded that the events market in Rwanda is getting trickier as the few willing companies cannot fund all the events.

“All the same, we are on the lookout for getting more sponsors on board,” Mr Angulu said.
