The recent Legends Alive event will stick in the minds of music lovers for a long while as it is where acclaimed musician Charles Kakooza Nkuriza took a final bow from the stage.

Legendary South African musician Yvone Chaka Chaka also performed at the same event.

The event, which took place on July 27, at Camp Kigali grounds attracted hundreds of people and it is where KNC launched his fourth and final album dubbed Heart Desire.

The artiste is taking a break after 18 years on the music scene.

Performances kicked off as early as 8:30pm starting with the Neptunez band and then Alyne Sano followed by award-winning Bruce Melodie, who was the curtain-raiser for the event.

Gospel act Israel Mbonyi and his band gave a thrilling performance that left many revellers on their feet and wanting more.

KNC’s performance, which lasted one hour, thirty minutes, was underwhelming given that it was his last.

Backed by a six-man band, the artiste, who started off on radio through a character called Dr Runiga, to a dramatic voice artiste in several commercials to a media entrepreneur. KNC currently owns a local radio and television station.

He performed most of his songs including Abagore, Byose, Ngwino, Mpologoma, Motherland Sweetie including songs from his fourth album dubbed Heart Desire.

Minutes past midnight, as he proceeded with his performance, the audience seemed outraged with some even booeing him while others walked out of the venue in disappointment.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s performance was electric and got the crowd excited.

Even at 53 years of age, Yvonne Chaka Chaka gave a thrilling performance of songs like Freedom, Take My Love Its Free, From Me To You, Makoti among other songs with her band.

One of the event’s highlights was Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s interaction with the audience and when she invited other artistes like KNC and Alyn Sano to the stage to perform together.

She ended her per formance with her most recent single titled Pardon Me from her latest album. It is a tribute to African immigrants, who leave their motherland to try and get to Europe, with some dying along the way, a situation she blamed on bad leadership.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s Kigali performance ended at 2am and concluded her July East African tour, which kicked off in Kenya and Uganda.
